  • This requires a backstory: Cedar has an assortment of balls that we keep downstairs in his stroller (because we only play with them outside). On occasion (read: EVERY TIME WE COME INSIDE) he starts to get one out and play with it in the hall--usually not such a big deal because if I ask him to put it back, he does. However, there are days when he doesn't listen or throws the balls at things he shouldn't, etc. Yesterday, was one of those days. After asking (and asking, and I think still asking) for him to put his balls away, I told him that if he didn't put them away, that we would put them on the curb so that someone else could take them and play with them responsibly (or something like that?). He immediately put them away. End of story.
    • Tonight at dinner, he dumped some water out of his "big boy" cup, so I calmly took it away and said, "Hey buddy, if you are going to dump your water out, then we are not going to use big boy cups anymore." To which his response was, "Are you going to put them in the road?" PJ and I were laughing hysterically--in hindsight, maybe we thought it was too funny?
  • Well folks, we are (pretty much) 100% potty trained over here and I'm STOKED about it
  • Has been putting two fingers in his mouth a lot (usually it happens when he is feeling nervous or shy...but it seems to be happening more frequently---WEIRD) WHAT'S WEIRDER: PJ did this exact thing (with the EXACT fingers) when he was his age
  • Continues to love all things trains
  • Has been saying quite a few hilarious things lately, particularly while we were in SC at the beach: sand cups (for buckets, shovels, sand castle supplies), beach pool (what he referred to the ocean as), waffle store (what he called the Waffle House), he has also been switching the order of words recently, like "ball beach" instead of beach ball, or "shirt flag" instead of flag shirt (which he wore on the 4th of July)
  • He is also becoming so sweet and observational...when we returned home from our trip, he was playing and then just looked up at me and said, "Mama, I had such a good time playing with Booker" (his cousin) --- ALL OF THE TEARS
  • He went to his first amusement park this month (while in SC) and was pretty smitten ("what are we gonna do next?") -- he particularly loved the boat ride and one where he rode in a fire truck; he also hilariously made a basket when he played that "shoot the ball in the hoop" game--we were all in disbelief and the rainbow basketball which he took home as a prize is his most treasured possession (at least today)
